She’ll do anything Azula asks of her - but sometimes, Azula asks too much. It’s at those moments that her conscience screams at her to stop, that something is wrong, that Azula is edging closer and closer to a precipice that Ty Lee can’t see but she senses it everywhere in Azula’s aura. And maybe if she stands up for herself this one time and says that this isn’t right, that they shouldn’t be doing this, maybe - just maybe - she can stop Azula from falling into the depths where auras disappear and are replaced with something much darker.
So she hesitates.
“Azula,” she says warily, “maybe we should let them go, they’re not-“
“If I wanted your opinion, Ty Lee, I would have asked for it,” Azula snaps, and she falls silent immediately.
Azula moves closer to that invisible freefall, and the only thing Ty Lee can do is tell herself that next time she’ll stand up to Azula.
